Oil

Producing oil from the Upper Cretaceous chalk for over 35 years, the densely faulted Valhall field is heavily compartmentalised.

Understanding of the fault distribution is important for field management, because faults may act as barriers or baffles, create fracture zones with increased permeability, or increase risks to well integrity.
Using Geoteric AI technology, we were able to delineate with a high degree of accuracy the faults that are present in the reservoir interval and in the overburden, providing a data-driven solution to further well placement. Click here to read the case study in full.

quote-1

“These confidence cubes are a great information for integrated well planning, helping for example assessing fault confidence, positioning uncertainty and ultimately the risk associated to the fault if intersected by the well.”

Senior Geophysicist, Valhall.

"Our most comprehensive fault interpretations to date. This has improved the rigour of our work so that our decisions are based on a better understanding of where faults may introduce drilling risks, and so that we can better understand lateral changes in our reservoir".

Lead Geophysicist, Valhall

"Geoteric results provide a foundation for detailed structural analysis of polygonal normal faults that would otherwise not be possible through manual interpretation. Specifically, this includes geometry and frequency of faulting".

Senior Structural Geologist.
