To install GeoTeric on Windows, simply double click on the GeoTeric installation .exe file. The wizard will take you through the steps of installing the software.
After installation, please ensure you add an exception to your anti-virus software for the GeoTeric installation folder and all of the files within.
If you require the Link for Petrel, there is a separate installation file for this. Close Petrel if it is running, then double click on the setup.exe and again a wizard will take you through the installation steps. Once installed, the Link for Petrel will appear in the Tools menu inside Petrel.
The Link for Petrel is currently certified to work with:
- Petrel 2015.X
- Petrel 2016.X
- Petrel 2017.X
To install GeoTeric using the .rpm file, run the following command as root.
rpm -ivh <installation file name>.rpm
This will install GeoTeric to /opt/GeoTeric
Use the --prefix option to specify a different location e.g.
rpm -ivh --prefix /apps <installation file name>.rpm
This will install GeoTeric to /apps/GeoTeric
If you prefer to use the .bz2 file for your installation, type the following:
tar xfvj <installation filename>.bz2
To uninstall GeoTeric (if you have installed it using the .rpm file), login as root and run the following command to get the installation name:
rpm –qa | grep ‘geoteric’
and then run:
rpm -e <installation name>
After installation, please ensure you add an exception to your anti-virus software for the GeoTeric installation folder and all of the files within. Also the temp folder should be set as an exception.
