Improve your rate of success

Geoteric Stratum™ has rewritten the rule book when it comes to seismic interpretation. Removing time-honoured barriers which slow down the fault picking process, the time taken to interpret a data set is now 90% faster, presenting results with a greater degree of accuracy for an advanced understanding of the geological structure.

Interpretability and explainability

Results can be evaluated in real-time allowing users to experiment and iterate freely. They can also be used to generate fault sticks (or surfaces) for modelling or analysed directly in combination with the results of other workflows, e.g. blends.

Embedding the AI response into a colour blend can reveal where stratigraphic responses are truncated by structural lineaments.  In the example to the left, lateral changes in frequency response are bound by AI detected faults, suggesting elements are structurally controlled or bound.

Together, with the tools you love, you can compare your results
with tried and tested processes.

Using every data point for a more in-depth geological analysis and improve rate of success, users can deliver more effective well and completion designs that minimise risk and maximise production.

Geoteric digital co-worker

Hello, my name is Geoteric.

How can I help?

AI Integration is not about human vs. machine, but somewhat human and machine working in collaboration.

Just like your colleagues, Geoteric Stratum has been designed to support you much like a digital co-worker.  Presenting users with an opportunity to do more, learn more and flourish in ways they can’t even imagine.

FAQs

How is Geoteric Stratum different to Collaborative AI?

Geoteric Stratum detects faults in a 3D manner. Processing the data in 3D, it does not handle the data as a series of slices like traditional ways of working.  Instead, it uses every single data point to characterise faults and horizons in a 3D manner. The output is a confidence cube, identifying fault probability in a simple traffic light system.

Geoteric’s most comprehensive AI solution, Geoteric Stratum delivers the most accurate results.  Users have a much stronger starting point, with more information to hand to build a successful subsurface understanding.

Do I need to fine-tune the data set?

Although the AI Network has been extensively trained, we cannot say that it identifies every fault in every data-set. Fine-tuning allows you to focus on features that you, the interpreter, see as the critical elements in the data set. If the algorithm has identified false positives, such as stratigraphic edges or coherent noise, fine-tuning can remove them.  The amount of data labelling required for fine-tuning is less than 0.03% of the seismic cube.

How can I fine-tune the results?

Adding a series of data labels, fault sticks, provides the network with further information specific to the volume it is analysing. This allows the network to remove previously detected faults and/or identify faults that were initially unidentified.

How can I ensure that I interpret in the zone of interest?

You can adjust the extents of the seismic volume in the 3D scene to only cover the focus area. In this case, fault interpretation has to be done in the 3D scene.

You can also create a smaller sub-volume around the focus area. In this instance, slices in the 3D scene and the 2D interpretation window can also be used for interpretation.

Do linear fault sticks cause problems?

Linear fault sticks do not accurately follow the fault-related changes in the seismic data. For example they can cross segments of continuous reflections. Due to these inaccuracies, the network's understanding of the faults can be weakened, and the results might deteriorate.

Our recommendation is to reinterpret the inlines and crosslines necessary for the fine-tuning using Geoteric’s Adaptive Faults.

How much does it cost to interpret without using AI?

Manual fault picking isn’t as cost-effective or easy as it seems. Interpreters recognise what they need to do; platforms know how it’s done. Spend less chasing inefficiencies, more time understanding problems to mitigate the risk upfront.

At Geoteric, we understand the amount of time, effort and money it takes to produce an effective understanding of the subsurface.  Which is why we have designed Geoteric Stratum to free up interpreters time when building their knowledge whilst delivering a detailed characterisation of geological elements which can enhance or alter an operator’s understanding of the subsurface.

Why should I adopt this technology today?

The impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) has already been realised in the subsurface. Early adopters are already gaining competitive advantage in protecting their assets, enhancing productivity, and minimising operational costs.

Diagnose your problems today

Your subsurface understanding materially affects the volume of hydrocarbon out of the ground. Operators need to see and know their volume clearly to evaluate their prospects correctly. With that in mind, Geoteric Stratum can be used in collaboration with your existing workflow to help address your most challenging questions.

Not just promise, proven performance

You may think Geoteric Stratum has much in common with other offerings on the market, but we’d say our results are worlds apart, proven across a range of vintages and geographies.  More and more customers adopt Geoteric’s AI technology to take their projects forward positively and they aren’t looking back.  Real results propel the software to deliver the most precise and best informative seismic data analysis to date.
